Yamraaj Mantra
A soft Saturday afternoon – I left office and the destination was home. Contrary to my style, my pace was a bit hot, cutting through the traffic, jiggling in and out and the engine was being banged towards its top. My steed was also a peppy RTR on which I fit snugly and the racy engine accompanies and absorbs all the punishment I throw at it. And as we all know, riding like that, every time you will find company or rather competition in any city. So here we were, all the so-called fast bikes like P180, Karizma, P200 and of course my RTR. We were all waiting in the traffic light, a long curvy stretch to follow. Not many cars were with us and a traffic light GP was sure reining in the limelight.
And it turned GREEN. The combined yowl of our rides rose and then succumbed by a single scream. Before the race even started, an old looking twin exhausted bike rocketed out from the start line and vanished into the distance. All of us was dumbstruck and should be smiling inside, cause we all knew that the ‘Yamraaj’ had beat us.Yes the Yamraaj or Yamdoot - as we know it. The beloved twin cylinder 2-stroke Yamaha was and still is the only real Superbike India has experienced.
